Well, some believe this seasonal is a sign that this Atlanta-based brewery is stepping it up a notch. There’s even a small group within the local beer world claiming that this beer is arguably the best festbier on the shelf this year.
I disagree, and here’s why. That malty caramel sweetness I want out of a festbier just isn’t there, it’s quick lived and fades far too quickly to a somewhat annoying bitter dry finish. I prefer a little more complexity out of my festbiers.
In my opinion, this Red Brick beer is like most other Red Brick brews. It lacks depth and body, and struggles to give reason for me to find interest.
Not a bad beer, but certainly far from great and probably won’t get this local brewery the respect they seek.
