The name over the door might have changed, but that’s about it. Vinocity’s owners felt the name “Vinocity” pinned them with a “wine bar only” stigma, hence the name change to Kirkwood Public House.
In a recent email exchange with co-owner Ian Smith Jr. he explained, “We are changing the name to Kirkwood Public House because Vinocity, in a lot of people’s mind, restricted us to just a wine bar where in truth we have a full line of spirits, and a great beer program that will continue to complement our already great wine list.”
Smith claims the menu will remain the same, but will undergo its usual seasonal change in March.
I asked if he feared the new name would pin them to “gastro pub only” status?
“No fear my friend.” He confidently replied.
Kirkwood Public House is located in the same cool space at 1963 Hosea Williams Drive.
