Atlanta Cuisine Forums

I’ve received several emails over the past two weeks regarding the absence of the AC discussion board. I figured it would be best to post something here to clear things up.
Atlanta Cuisine is no longer in the message board business, at least not in the immediate future. We’re currently changing our focus and energies—and server space—to Internet video capability with plans to air a bi-weekly food and drink series with an investigative spin. These clips are being produced for television as well as Internet. The first show will air this Spring. We plan to host these high quality videos on our own server, not YouTube. This wouldn’t be feasible with the discussion board software—the resource hog it is—on the same server.
Dumping the message board was purely a business decision made late spring 2009. I made an announcement this past summer regarding my plans to shut the forums down, so this should come as no surprise.
As you can see, we stepped up the site’s look and feel, which offers us a solid content management system to properly maintain and manage articles—and will allow us to be more creative with photography. Expect to see several (3 or more) weekly Tom Eats articles as well as a beer entry or two per week, plus other timely articles. Site content will be kept fresh and timely.
What about the forums and all that valuable information?
Well, some of you will be happy to know there is an interested party in taking over the old forums, a local company that already enjoys a very prominent web presence.
Negotiations are set to take place sometime this week. Hopefully, these talks will be quick and the forum data will be open for public use on their site very soon. This is all I can say at this time, but promise to let you know more about this deal (yay or nay) as the information becomes available.
Before I go, I’d like to wish all of you a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
Cheers!
Tom

Good riddance! Most of the members were rude!!! Love the new site, Tom!!

Thank you for the nice comment about the site, sb. I must disagree with you about your other comment though. While I agree a small handful of our forum posters acted badly—most were friendly and knew a great deal about food.

So the forum is gone? That was actually one of the key things I liked about the site. Pretty disappointing!
