Right On “Cue”

As far as politics go, I’m a devout libertarian. And as a libertarian, I’d just like to say, all you democrats and republicans sure know how to muck things up.
When it comes to food, I’m a big believer in the theory of trickle-down gastronomics. Why? Because after 8 comical years under George W. Bush and several painful months of Prime Minister Obama, it’s one of the few things that actually makes sense.
‘Cue Barbecue (13700 Hwy-9, Alpharetta, Tel: 770.667.0089) is the latest example of just how wonderful this phenomenon can be, and I’m certain those who live nearby aren’t lodging any complaints.

The owner is a Swallow at The Hollow (SATH) disciple — and his food is a dead giveaway. Just like SATH — and I do mean just like SATH — there are 2 sauce options: a sweet Kansas City style and the other, a vinegary North Carolina style. Everything seems to come with those same sweet and spicy pickles that you’ll recognize from SATH, and sides are all fresh, with some local vegetable offerings.
Even more evidence is the distinct smell of freshly baked bread wafting through the small dining room. I generally order my sandwiches with Texas Toast, but strayed on a recent visit to find the soft house made bun hugs the pork in such a way, it’s almost sexy.
The pork arrives a good mixture of crispy bits and succulent surface meat.
After 5 visits, I must say the only letdown has been with the ribs, which seemed to lack that sweet, candy-like outer bark that single handedly placed SATH on my monthly to do list.
Service is very friendly and knowledgeable, though a tad slow.
All in all, Cue Barbecue isn’t quite as good as SATH, but it’s certainly in the same league — so much that if I lived in the area, I wouldn’t find it totally necessary to make the drive to Roswell every time I had a hankerin’ for a pork sandwich.
