Beer Tip: Moylans Hopsickle Imperial IPA

Over the past couple years some of you have emailed me asking if I’d offer a weekly or monthly beer pick. Okay, why not? I’m a craft beer junkie with a little extra time for drink and tell. Though, I won’t claim this entry will be a weekly or monthly, I just plan to whip them out as I find beers that I believe to be worthy of a mention.
So, hopping right to it, I recently made a special trip to Thinking Man Tavern (537 Howard Ave, Decatur, 404.370.1717) to try Moylans Hopsickle Imperial IPA on tap.
This beer is for the hopheads out there. Big upfront grapefruit hop aroma is but a warning for the nearly in your face robust dose of hops that ends with a bitter grapefruit finish. A little sweet in the middle. The mouthfeel is surprisingly silky and creamy. This beer drinks remarkably similar to the Dogfish Head 90 minute, and equally as potent at around 9%.
This beautiful beer isn’t being poured on taps all over town. In fact, I only know of 2 places currently pouring it: Thinking Man Tavern and Brick Store Pub.
Verdict: 4 on a scale to 5
